Unique and interesting carving on dry walnut.The walnut has carvings of 18 Lohans (deciples of buddha) sitting or standing among trees.Consider the size of walnut it is quite incredible to have carvings on it let alone 18 monks in their flowing robes.These kind of carvings were common in China in the old days. There was not enough work for everybody in China in those days so people sat around to do handy work such as carving walnuts. bought these over 30 years ago. Recent trips to China have not been able to find these carved walnuts.On another site similar walnut is priced over four hundred dollars.Height: cm The battery is there for size comparison only.
