This medieval tapestry (Needlepoint) is oneof the series of works known collectively as “La Dame la Licorne”, It shows alady holding mirror in which the unicorn’s reflection appears alsoaccompanied by the graceful lion holding the pennant or flag of the familycrest of the La Viste family. Like others in the series, this tapestry wascommissioned by Jean Le Viste to mark his appointment to the court of KingLouis XI. The original was woven in the 16th century. This 32.5” 22.5” (78 57cm) is lined on the back and has brass hooks for easy hanging.The tapestry has couple of stitches missingas shown in the photos.
