Fantastic wooden box made in Japan circa last 1800s.The lovely lacquered box has wonderful scene of an old man cutting bamboo in forest.The work is really beautiful and intricate. It is all handmade. You might be able to see my pictures to appreciate it. In reality it is even better.Please note that Japan is making plastic lacquer boxes now. To find an old wooden box is rather difficult.Small wear from age but not significant. One of the pin in the hinges is missing. It will be easy to find replacement.Measurement: 23 cm cm 5.5 cmThe battery is there for size comparison only. It has nothing to do with the item.'Most of my collection is one of kind. bought the items because liked it for myself. They were never intended to be resold. Each item has story and when possible hand carried in my luggage from all over the world to bring back to Australia.
