Thisis beautiful very old cigarette case and fine example of Japanese mixedmetal inlay techniques. The cigarette case has graceful, elongatedrectangular form with slim profile.  Ithink the Japanese technique of shakudō is used to create this eye-catching casewith the scene of Mount Fuji with temple and typical Japanese village motifin the foreground.  On the back is whatlooks like Japanese farm scene. believe this wonderful piece dates to the1920s-1940s. The older lady bought it from said it was her grandmothers. It measuresapprox. 1/4" 3/16" and is about ½” thick. Thehinge on the cigarette case is straight & in good working condition. Theclosing/locking clasp works well and hold the case closed tight. Thiscigarette case is as found and bit dirty. The black on the inside of the topcover has some wear as you can see speckles of gold color. The expandable crosschain (looks like watch band) that holds the cigarettes in place isremovable.
