Please look carefully at the photos and let me know if you'd like to see others.  This is very old trunk or chest, possibly child's steamer trunk or bride's wedding chest.  It measures about 26" long 12-1/2" high 14" deep so it isn't full sized but it isn't doll sized either.  It comes from the liquidation of an antique dealer's estate and dates to the 1800s, likely circa 1860-ish.It is not in perfect condition but bears all the characteristics we would expect of piece of this age.  It would be charming just as it is in your rustic or primitive home or it would be lovely candidate for restoration.It is made of wood with iron reinforcements around the edges.  There are wooden slats crosswise on the top, front and back.  There are only small remnants left of the leather straps that fastened at the front; the metal lock plate seems to be intact but there is no key.  The two leather carrying handles on the sides are worn but intact.  The exterior is paper covered and in fair to poor condition.  The interior is lined in wallpaper and in reasonably good condition.  The hinges work as they should.  don't see any major damage to the wood but there are lots of dings, scratches, chips, and there is a repair, crudely done but completely functional, on the bottom.  It is dirty and needs good cleaning.  It is being sold as found, as described, as is.  cannot guarantee that it has not been exposed to odors:  smoking, fragrance, cooking, mustiness, mothballs, other types of storage odors or pets. *****To avoid the expense of shipping, pick up may be arranged in Groton, CT.
