Offered for sale is this antique 18th century Marcolini period Meissen porcelain cup and saucer. The quality of the portraits is top notch. I've sold many early Meissen cups and saucers over the years, but this decoration is unusual and think rare subject Cupid being disarmed by his mother Venus. Please excuse the reflections in the pictures.SIZE: The saucer is just over and 1/8ths inches diameter. The cup is just over 2.5 inches tall.CONDITION: There is tiny pin point flea bite on the rim of the cup the pen is pointing to it in the close up pictures. There is small crescent-shaped impact mark on the inside rim of the saucer it is not chipped, but you can see where the glaze has been damaged the pen is pointing to this too. There is wear to the gold on the rims. Please see the close up pictures. MARKS: Matching early Meissen Marcolini period marks on the bottoms of both pieces as shown. Both pieces are first quality. All photos can be enlarged by clicking on them.
