For your consideration is this 1950s-vintage, 16"-diameter green and white porcelain, vapor-proof fixture made by arguably the mid-century's highest-quality manufacturer of industrial lighting: Crouse-Hinds of Syracuse, N.Y. It is an impressive industrial fixture, with threaded, heavy-glass, original glass globe with the manufacturer's raised logo, beefy cast-aluminum socket housing, and few chips, scuffs, and dulling to the porcelain shade, owing to its years of reliable use. The 9"-long, 4"-diameter glass globe is in excellent condition with very light wear. The fixture's original, high-quality, medium-base, Crouse-Hinds porcelain ceramic socket is in perfect working condition and accepts any typical household bulb (incandescent, CFL, or LED). The fixture has been completely disassembled, cleaned, expertly refurbished, and rewired to ensure you lamp that will work perfectly for another 60 years! IMPORTANTLY, its original gaskets have been replaced with new cork/nitrile rubber gaskets for safe and dependable use for many more years to come. Any time you buy vintage industrial light, make sure that its gaskets -- which often contain asbestos -- have been completely removed and replaced with safe and effective gasket, or prepare to do it yourself. This light fixture is completely original (except for the just-mentioned gaskets) and comes with 9" long galvanized 1/2"-I.D. galvanized cast-iron pipe down rod and vintage swiveling ceiling hanger. We've included 3' of new wiring, enabling you to readily lengthen the down rod using common iron pipe (available in any length from any hardware store).  As supplied, the fixture measures 23" from top (ceiling hanger) to bottom (the rim of the shade). The shade measures 16" diameter at its rim. Without the hanging hardware, the shade and mount measure 14" tall. The fixture weighs about pounds. At Industrial Antiquities we guarantee your complete satisfaction because each light is:
*Completely disassembled and thoroughly cleaned. Before you buy any light, make sure it has been disassembled, cleaned, and refurbished. We've taken apart thousands of them, and believe us, when you buy them "as is" you will find many of them nearly impossible to take apart, with unsafe and inoperable parts.*Refurbished to the highest standards. Each light-fixture component, down to the tiniest fastener, is inspected and then thoroughly refurbished. Threaded parts are "chased" and lubricated as necessary to ensure everything fits snugly and precisely as it should, and that the fixture can be easily disassembled if necessary. We try to keep fixtures as original as possible, but we don't hesitate to replace parts when necessary, always using components of equal or better quality than the originals. Though these old lights were generally built to level of quality unmatched in today's world of imported light fixtures, but we'll occasionally run across rusty steel screws and other fasteners that are better replaced with stainless steel or brass fasteners. If we replace any major components we always mention that in the description. Metal housings are treated in way to restore their former glory while preserving their vintage look, then treated with no-film corrosion inhibitor. Gaskets are replaced as necessary with fresh new ones. Every fixture is different and requires customized course of treatment, but rest assured that the fixture you are buying has been professionally restored in every way to ensure many more years of enjoyment and safe operation.*Guaranteed to work. We typically rewire each fixture with copper wire of gauge sized appropriately for any type of light bulb intended for the fixture, including incandescent, CFL, and LED. We include extra-long wires so that you have flexibility in mounting the fixture using longer pipe than we supply. Iron pipes are readily available and inexpensive to purchase, but expensive to ship due to weight, so we just think it makes sense for you to purchase those on your end rather than supply longer lengths with each light. And, of course, we test each fixture to make sure it's in perfect working order.*Accurately photographed and described. Check our outstanding feedback and know that these lights are clearly photographed, from all angles, in sharp detail, so you can see exactly what you're buying. Our descriptions are honest, accurate, and detailed. If you require any more photos or information, don't hesitate to contact us and we'll get back to you quickly.*Ready to hang. With each fixture we include an iron pipe and swiveling hanger for attachment to ceiling junction box. The swiveling hanger ensures the fixture hangs plumb (even on sloped ceilings), and provides "give" should the fixture be accidentally bumped.*Carefully packaged. We generously pad our light fixtures in accordance with the standards established by our major shippers (FedEx, UPS, and USPS), and use sturdy boxes, often double boxing if necessary. Though these lights have prices assigned to them, in many ways we consider them "priceless" because of their rarity, beauty, and the fact that you simply cannot buy modern-day replacement -- and we keep that front of mind in thoughtfully packing every fixture. We typically ship within 24 hours of payment. Most light fixtures are slightly disassembled for safe and economical shipping -- an easy reassembly on your end.*Guaranteed to please. We can't remember the last time customer was unhappy, but if you don't like your fixture for any reason, simply return it for full refund.
Quoted shipping is to the lower 48 states.
