TITLE:  Native Patrol Officer brass Badge LULUAI 1960s SIZE:  Width 4cm

DESCRIPTION:

New Guinea  was large and difficult country for Australia toadminister.  Access to villages was andstill is often only by boat or by foot. To assist the patrol officers natives in each village were appointedrepresentatives for the Government.  The firstin charge was given the title Luluai and the second in charge was called TulTul.  These representatives wereidentified by these copper medals.  This is one of two were collected in the 1960s
