Antique Japanese Dolls Historical Survey Illustrated for Sale

Japanese Dolls by Tokubei Yamada. 4th Edition, 1964. Hardcover with dust jacket. Published by Japan Travel Bureau. Book size: 7" 5" inches.

190 pages. Filled with many illustrations, photos in color and 127 photos in black and white. This well-documented survey discusses coloured wooden dolls, dressed dolls, and clay dolls, of which the making is time-honoured craft in Hakata. Folk-dolls, made of papier-mache, wood, porcelain and bronze, are described and illustrated.

Good in fair dust jacket. Interior pages have some age-toning and mild foxing. Dust jacket has short tears, chips, shelf rubs and creases, which are mostly along the edges. Orange cloth boards are clean, with slight ripples. Binding is good.
