This is wonderful hallmarked, handpainted silver box dating from 1907. Did couple enjoy honeymoon at Victoria Falls in Africa just before the First World War and bring this box home as souvenir? We will never know. But we do know that the box was made in Birmingham in 1907 and that it weighs 34.5 grams. The maker was and B. The box is 4.7 centimetres across and has depth of 2.3 centimetres. The painting of Victoria Falls is beautifully done and there is no damage to the enamel. It is marked on the bottom with full hallmark It seems to have been lightly gilded inside. A really lovely example of the pictorial boxes made at this time.
