Nice Antique George IV/William IV Hallmarked Solid Sterling Silver Snuff Box With Engraved Made By Edward Smith
Description Antique 19th century  good gauge solid silver snuff box with hinged lid and lovely cast and applied chased foliate thumb piece.  The lid and base both have nice engine turned decoration and there is central rectangular vacant cartouche, the sides have reeded decoration, the interior is silver-gilt (Gold washed).
The box is fully hallmarked with the anchor for Birmingham assay, the lion passant indicating 925 grade solid sterling silver, the King's head, the date letter "G" for the year 1830 and the makers mark "E S" which is Edward Smith
Condition - There are holes in the front right and rear left corners of the base (PLEASE SEE END PHOTOGRAPH), there is pin hole in the rear left corner and repair and pin hole in the rear right corner of the lid.  There no dents, dinks, splits, and the hinge is in good order closing fine, the decoration the engraved decoration has loss of definition, the interior silver- gilt  bright but has some thinning.
Dimensions & Weight - The box is 7.4cm wide 4cm long 1.8cm high.  The weight is 67.6 grams.
