Antique Chinese Wooden Plaque Sign, hand carved calligraphy 
Size:  16" 10" 7/16"
Age estimate: 1880s-1940s.  

The calligraphy is hand-carved into the wood and gold painted. The wood is plywood, looks like mahogany.

Condition:  Aged and somewhat soiled, but solid. 
I bought this sign in George Town, Penang, Malaysia in the mid 1980s. Penang has long had large ethnic Chinese community. The sign's condition has not changed since purchased it.
Meaning translation:  Chinese people that have shown it to have always said that some of the characters are either archaic or otherwise unfamiliar.  But the general meaning seems to be "Blessing for the Home of Chinese People who are Far Away from China."
