Interesting antique bronze opium weight circa early 1920s. Southeast Asia.The weight is handmade in the shape of an elephant. It is made of solid bronze.Opium weights were used in Asia for weighting opium produced in the Golden Triangle. These weights were used in remote hilltribes where poppies were grown. Nowadays they have electronic scales.Height:2.5 cm Weight:23 grams"Most of my collection is one of kind. bought the items because liked it for myself. They were never intended to be resold. Each item has story and when possible hand carried in my luggage from all over the world to bring back to Australia. Some of the items have travelled long way away and some of the items has been with me for 65 years. am now retired and need to downsize. will not be able to buy similar item again and definitely not able to sell it at the same price.
